From a Niskin bottle, to a state of the art
side scan survey system, to the 27 foot Research Vessel Abigail, we
provide top notch gear to ensure your needs are met. Including our
Trimble RTK GPS for high precision surveys.
The RV Abigail is at the center of our field
activities and is crucial to our ability to provide high quality services.
We are focusing on near coastal and inland projects. The Abigail can
be trailered to 50% of Eastern United States locations within a day.
She is well equipped and well maintained as is all our equipment.

SOS has the can do spirit and the experience to get the job done
Our services include installing and maintaining
oceanographic instruments, conducting geophysical, bathymetric surveys,
and the design/fabrications of related hardware. Wayne Spencer, the CEO
and co-founder, has more than 30 years of experience in oceanography.
Whether it is a large project involving many of our colleagues or a small
one SOS will get the job done. Our priority is always to do the best job
and ensure that the client’s needs are met.
Wayne’s oceanographic experience includes
20 years at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) and 8 years
at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO). At WHOI Wayne served
as a member of the technical staff and developed a number of near shore
instruments. At SIO Wayne was also involved in instrumentation development.
He has much experience in side scan, sub bottom, and ADCP surveying. Wayne
has been running SOS full time since 1998.
